H-Lift Manual Chain Hoist / Chain Block

A chain hoist is a mechanical lifting device used to move heavy loads in situations where electric or hydraulic options are not practical. It consists of a chain wound around internal gears, operated by a manual hand chain to lift or lower loads with precision.

Applications: Commonly used in construction, manufacturing, and mining. H-Lift chain hoists are designed to be durable, reliable, and easily operated by a single person. Available in a wide range of lifting capacities (WLL).

ALWAYS:
  • Store and handle chain hoists correctly in a dry place.
  • Inspect chain hoists and accessories before use and before storage.
  • For top hook suspension, ensure hooks have safety catches or are moused securely.
  • For trolley suspension, ensure the trolley is correctly set for the beam width.
  • Check that the bottom hook can reach its lowest point without running the chain fully out.
  • Adopt safe slinging practices and follow all instructions.
NEVER:
  • Expose chain hoists to chemicals (especially acids) without consulting the supplier.
  • Replace the load chain with a longer one without approval.
  • Tip loading or side hooking.
  • Use undue effort to force the hoist to operate.
  • Throw, drop, or drag a chain hoist.
  • Allow oil or grease to contaminate the brake mechanism.
  • Expose to water spray, steam, or elements without consulting the supplier.
📋 Selecting the Correct Hoist
Select the hoist based on:
  • Suspension Type: Hook, trolley, etc.
  • Capacity & Range: Ensure WLL covers the load.
  • Environment: The chain and hooks are designed for ambient temperatures between -10°C and +50°C.Consult us if used in high-risk areas (acids, chemicals, extreme temps).
Note: Chain hoists are designed for vertical lifting only.
📦 Storage & Handling
  • Never return damaged hoists to storage.
  • Keep dry, clean, and protected from corrosion.
  • Store by top suspension with chains clear of the ground.
  • Warning: Never galvanize or plate load-bearing parts without express approval.
🔧 Installation & Commissioning
  • Test the hoist to ensure correct operation and effective braking.
  • Ensure the chain is not twisted and moves freely.
  • Verify the bottom hook reaches the lowest required position without running out of chain.
⚙️ Safe Usage
  • Do not lift unless you understand slinging procedures.
  • Never use the hoist chain itself as a sling.
  • Check for twisted chains (especially on multi-fall hoists).
  • Ensure the landing area is prepared before moving the load.
  • Keep fingers and toes clear when lowering.
🛠️ Inspection & Maintenance
  • Keep load chains lubricated.
  • Brakes: Must be kept free of oil/grease.
  • Inspect for: Wear, hook damage, bent/notched chains, corrosion, or illegible markings.
  • If defects are found, refer to a Competent Person immediately.
